Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka? A Zombie Story For The Light-Hearted

Sunday, 20 January, 2013

Sexy Anime Fan Art - Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka?

Aikawa Ayumi is your average high school student until one day; he got murdered by a serial killer. Fortunately for him, he was resurrected by the enigmatic necromancer, Eucliwood Hellscythe. However, instead of being revived as a mortal, he was turned into a zombie that allows him to exceed the limits of a normal human being as well as giving him superhuman strength. The only drawback though is that he is weak against sunlight and it dries him up and he can still feel pain when physically injured.

The story progress with the protagonist slowly realizing that he is stronger than he initially thought. And after meeting and draining the magical powers of Haruna, who is a magical girl, Aikawa is then able to turn himself into a more powerful being dressed as a magical girl.

Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka is a harem anime. A harem is a genre of anime wherein there is a single male protagonist who is surrounded by a lot of supporting female characters. The anime has a total of thirteen episodes including an OVA. The plot is interesting but since it only has a couple of episodes, it was not given much focus until the last few episodes of the series. There is also a running gag in the anime wherein the protagonist always gets hacked into pieces by the enemies but still survives since he is already dead. The good thing about the anime is that the atmosphere is light and has humor in it. Furthermore, it is a shounen anime, anime directed to the younger male audience so they are more likely to appreciate the harem concept.

On the other hand, the magical girl aspect of the anime will attract young female audiences. Overall, the ideas are unique and can be recommended for the general audiences. If you are someone who loves to watch some zombie kicking the ass of other creatures of the dark or another zombie, then this anime is for you.

Persona: Trinity Soul

Monday, 12 November, 2012

Persona Trinity SoulPersona: Trinity Soul is an occult anime TV series which is also a part of the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series. The anime is a non-canonical take of the Playstation 2 game Persona III in which the series’ events starts 10 years after the game’s events. The story starts with Shin Kanzato, along with his younger brother Jun, moving back to Ayanagi, their hometown, to see their older brother Ryou Kanzato who is now the superintendent of Ayanagi’s City Polic Force. It has been ten years since a disaster severed Ayanagi City and when the siblings saw each other.

Basically, in the world of Persona, some people are gifted with the ability to summon an entity from inside them which can combat other opposing personas. These personas are basically another representation of themselves. They appear in various forms and often wield weapons and have other supernatural ability. The plot revolves around people suffering apathy syndrome, a mysterious disease which puts people in a somewhat catatonic state, and is being investigated by the police.

The anime is a good watch however if you are into battle animes like Naruto, Bleach, and or One Piece, you would not be able to appreciate it. Persona: Trinity Soul is a plot driven series and rely less on combat scenarios. It has a number of dramas in it than action. It also has a bit of romance but it is not the focus of the anime. What I did not appreciate though is that there are some parts of the stories which were unexplained like what kind of being is the whale, and why is there a whale. There are a couple of unanswered questions although you can live with it. Watch it and you’ll know what I am talking about.  If you are into occult animes Like Tokyo Majin, XXXholic, you may find Persona: Trinity Blood interesting.

And the Marathon Continues!

Wednesday, 25 April, 2012

For the past couple of years, me and my girlfriend have decided to spend most of our free time going for an anime marathon rather than some Macclesfield dating. We already gave up watching local programming since we find it often frustrating and irritating for various reasons. One of which is that most of the programs in local television is either a hard-core drama which involves the characters switching partners or protagonists which are unrealistically oppressed. Or programs with some storyline that is totally ripped-off from a random foreign movie or series. If not these kinds of local dramas, you get to watch Korean dramas dubbed in the local language. Now, I do not have anything against Korean dramas but then again, when you have enough drama in your life, you do not need to see more of it on television. Besides, the program portrays a different culture which will not be applicable in my lifestyle or probably anyone living a class C or D of life out there. But then again, we thought that the continuous development of such dramas stems from the reason that the majority of the people who watch local television can only comprehend such. And they sell.

That is why we prefer watching anime. Not only do you get valuable lessons from them but they have unique plots that you do not see in your local television. Ever. Furthermore, setting aside the exaggerated reactions from the characters, they behave more rationally than the live characters in local programming. And they do not have time being oppressed by some antagonist who is aiming to get the inheritance of some family treasure or whatnot. I am also not saying this to criticize the quality of the actors here locally. I think they are doing well with their profession so nothing much to say there but plot-wise? It just sucks big time.

Setting all that aside, we still have a couple of animes on our list which needs to be watched such as Fate Zero, Gosick, Slayers Try and some more. The truth is, I do not know how long it will take for us to watch these series but then again, it does not really matter since they are all fun to watch anyway.

Bakuman Anime – Bakuchi Manga

Thursday, 26 January, 2012

The title “Bakuman” is probably coined from Bakuchi Manga, “bakuchi” meaning gambling which is mentioned by Mashiro more often.

Wiki’s Notes:

Bakuman. (バクマン。?) is a shōnen manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, the same creative team responsible for Death Note. The series follows talented artist Moritaka Mashiro and aspiring writer Akito Takagi, two ninth grade boys who wish to become manga artists.

Bakuman - Bakuchi Manga

Bakuman anime is like a slice of life to me. So simple yet really inspiring and you can relate it to any dream you have in life. The scenes are also realistic. My boyfriend and I just finished season 1 and we’re still on episode 15 of season 2. I guess he will write a better review about this anime. 🙂

BAKUMAN shows that there is no happy-ever-after. Life is a continuing series of struggles and you can’t afford to get lazy or complacent. You have to earn every inch of triumph and success you get, so you’d better be doing something you love, or it’s going to be a frustrating, disappointing, wasted life.

Arakawa Under the Bridge

Sunday, 23 October, 2011

Kou Ichinomiya is the lead character of this series and I’d love to call him an alpha-male: smart, rich and handsome.

Misfortune befalls upon him at the Arakawa Bridge and it became worst when he started to live with the people under the bridge.

Set in Arakawa, Tokyo, the series tells the story of Kou Ichinomiya, a man who has accomplished everything by himself. Ever since he was little, his father has taught him one rule: to never be indebted to another person. One day by accident, he falls into the Arakawa River and almost drowns. A girl by the name of Nino rescues him and, in return, he owes her his life. Unable to accept the fact that he is indebted to her, he asks her about a way for him to repay her. In the end, she tells him to love her, beginning Kou’s life of living under a bridge. However, as Kou starts to learn, Arakawa is a place full of weirdos and all of the people living under the bridge are what society would call “denpasan”.
